A Christoper Hitchens squawk-piece on Zarqawi that's especially fun to read, as mph has suggested, in a Dudley Moore as "Arthur" voice. How does he square his point with the fact that Bush failed to airstrike him before the war? Is it more sporting now that he's got access to Saddam's pilfered arsenal than when he was a stranded nobody in the Kurdish provinces?

Ohio voters angrily confront Republican operatives who made bogus challenges to their right to vote. Link is to NPR story; link to full transcript of hearing (PDF) at bottom of page. Worth the time to skim through: Citizens fight back! GOP weasels try to skulk away!

Why poll numbers keep hopping around: "The polls are trying to capture two moving targets at the same time, and that multiplies the motion. One target is presidential choice. The other, more difficult one, is the composition of the actual electorate..."

More from NewDonkey on the Rove strategy for Ohio. When did you hear the first Republican squawk about "voter fraud"? What do you bet O'Reilly, Hannity, and Scarborough talk a lot about it tonight, and for the next many nights? If they can make Kerry a goldbricking garet trooper, it's a cinch to make him a backroom election-thief.

Not to sound extreme, but if no one in the Bush administration is guilty of war crimes, the 21st century is looking worse and worse. Long NYTimes story on the legal frontiers unilaterally breached by the White House here.

Before John Kerry's terrible words, Mary Cheney only had to be gay to her family, her friends, the Coors Corporation, the staff of Bush/Cheney Re-Elect, and the gay community at large to whom she acted as a liason. But John Kerry made her gay to the entire world, effectively making her more gay than ever before.
